Samiah Puckett transfers to South Carolina State University

The women’s basketball program at South Carolina State University has reportedly secured another addition via the transfer portal, as Samiah Puckett is set to join the Bulldogs ahead of the upcoming season.

Puckett played her high school ball at Griffin High School ( Griffin, GA) where she scored more than 750 points, pulled in over 500 rebounds and blocked over 200 shots. She began her collegiate career at East Tennessee State University where she appeared in 26 contests as a freshman. Puckett then transferred to Alabama State, and after receiving a medical redshirt her first season, made her debut the following season against Auburn on November 8, 2025. In total Puckett saw action in 14 contests for the Hornets.

Puckett brings collegiate experience , albeit in limited minutes, and if deployed correctly she can help a South Carolina State team that was one of the worst rebounding and shot blocking teams in the MEAC last season.

With roster movement continuing to reshape women’s college basketball, South Carolina State appears intent on strengthening its depth and adding players capable of making an immediate impact. Puckett’s addition gives the Bulldogs another versatile piece as the program looks to compete in the MEAC.
